Outdoor fireplace

How much do the fireplaces weigh?

The core weight of our outdoor fireplace is broken down into two parts, the shell, and the firebox. The Douglas has a 1300kg concrete shell and the Hudson's is 2000kg. The Mini Burton has a 900kg shell and the Burton shell weighs 1300kg. The steel firebox, which goes in each outdoor fireplace, is 120kg. This does not include accessories such as the wood boxes or chimney extensions.

Will the fireplaces smoke out the front?

Our outdoor fireplaces have been carefully designed to maximize heat output and ensure proper airflow. Using wet wood or experiencing strong winds blowing across the front may cause some smoke. Otherwise, we are confident you can enjoy a clean & efficient burn with minimal smoke.

Will my outdoor fireplace need a permit?

In most cases, a permit is not required; however, local councils may have varying regulations that can change at the state or national level. Contact Trendz to find out the exact rules for your area.

Does the fireplace come with a warranty?

Yes, every fireplace we sell comes with a 2-year warranty that covers structural cracking. While it's common for hairline cracks to appear on your fireplace over time, these are considered normal and are not covered by the warranty.

What is the surface of the fireplace?

Our outdoor fireplace comes standard with a bare concrete shell. However, we highly recommend finishing the exterior, as imperfections may be present in the concrete. The shell can be finished with materials such as plaster, stone, schist, steel, or brick.

The Burton and Mini Burton fireplaces can be pre-plastered and painted at our factory before delivery, so they arrive nearly ready for installation.

What are the fireplaces made of?

The fireplaces are precast using a special blend of concrete with fibers to ensure they can withstand high heat. A steel firebox is included to contain and direct the heat to those enjoying the warmth. The Burton and Mini Burton feature steel chimneys, while the Douglas and Hudson are equipped with concrete chimneys.

Will the fireplace crack?

As with any concrete product, small hairline cracks may appear over time, which is also normal for a Trendz outdoor fireplace. However, due to the concrete mix design, structural cracking is not expected and is covered by the warranty. If excessive cracking occurs, it may be caused by factors such as subsidence in the concrete pad or possibly even seismic activity.

Can I cook on the fireplaces?

Yes! Our swinging cooking grill turns open fire cooking into the ultimate al fresco experience. The Single Peak and Twin Peak fireplaces come with a swinging cooking grill as a standard feature, but all wood-burning fireplaces in our range can also be upgraded to include one.

Can I have a gas fireplace?

Yes, Trendz offers the option to add a gas firebox to any of our fireplace models. However, please note that gas is primarily for aesthetic purposes and is not designed to provide significant warmth for an outdoor area.

Can I extend the chimney?

Yes, extension options are available: 400mm blocks for the Douglas and Hudson, and 600mm or 1200mm flue extensions for the Burton and Mini Burton. You can find these on each product page. The main consideration for chimney height is whether proper support is in place for the extended structure.

What if I want to put a fireplace in an outdoor room?

No problems, we have engineer’s drawings available for this. Contact Trendz for more information.

Can I put a fireplace on a wooden deck?

Sure! However, we recommend building a concrete footing up to the height of the deck to support the fireplace's weight while maintaining the appearance of being on the decked area. Contact Trendz for more information.

What about council regulations?

Councils often have different rules and requirements are liable to change at a state or national level too. Contact Trendz to find out the exact rules for your region.

What do I get with a standard fireplace?

The standard fireplace includes a concrete shell and a steel firebox. For the Burton and Mini Burton models, we also offer optional plastering and painting.

A variety of accessories is available, including wood boxes, concrete hearths, chimney extensions, and our swinging cooking grill. Explore each outdoor fireplace to see all available options.

Fire pit

What is the finish of the fire pit?

The fire pit's base components come pre-rusted, as they are made from corten steel, while the cooking plate is bare, rust-free steel.

What can I cook on the fire pit?

Can I make my own stand/base?

Yes, you can! The base is included in the package, but you can remove the fire pit bowl and hot plate and place them elsewhere if desired.

What is the fire pit made of?

The fire pit is crafted from Corten steel, and the top hot plate is made from 8mm mild steel.

What do I get when I purchase a Trendz fire pit?

The complete fire pit se tup includes the bowl, circular hot plate surround, base, and a canvas cover. It also comes with easy-to-follow assembly instructions, so you can start enjoying your fire pit right away.

Can I put the fire pit on a timber deck?

Yes, you can. However, for safety, we recommend placing it on four 500mm x 500mm pavers.

Can the cooking plate be removed?

Yes, it can. Once you're done cooking, simply remove the top plate, revealing the spacious fire pit bowl, which can be stoked up for a larger flame.

How heavy is the fire pit?

The fire pit, including hot plate, bowl and base weighs 150kg.

How long does the fire pit take to heat up?

The duration depends on several factors, including the type of wood used and environmental conditions, but generally no longer than 30 minutes.

Does juice drip on the deck when you're cooking?

The fire pit is designed with a cut around the edge of the hot plate to direct any juices into the fire pit bowl, preventing them from spilling onto your patio.

While it may not stop everyone from occasionally dripping their delicious grilled food onto the deck, at least everyone will be having fun.
